Life in the summer.
Some might know that I am occasionally driven to tears by living in Brooklyn. No escape, very little chance for physical activity, general noise and dirt, etc. So I run away to New Jersey or Long Island and hang out where there are trees and silence and hills and all that. This weekend started in NJ, where I swam in the quarry, jumped off the dock and met some new baby ponies. Then I went to LI where there were zero waves, so after hanging on the beach for 2 days, I busted it back to Williamsburg watched TV on the Radio play a concert (amazing, even if it was raining and everyone was soaked) then ordered Thai and watched Last King of Scotland (disturbing) with a friend.
My Long Island getaway is a friends house that I rented the downstairs in for a couple months. This is where I work now, on the deck:

These are the dunes behind the beach in West Hampton:

Another beach I hang at:

The view just as I get back to my house in the city, Morgan / Meeker exit on the BQE.

Hi Nate,
I've been keeping up on your blogs. Sounds like you've finally found a safe-haven. How is the photog business going? What kind of work are you getting yourself into?
Keep up the blogs, and the beautiful photos!

Nate, don't be telling people about the secrets of NJ... You'll lose your pass to the Quarry.. and then the mini ponies will attack.
