Here I am.

Total disappointment—apparently I'm on the "B" team. Almost everyone else got a helicopter ride from the airport to the hotel. Me, just a ride in a pimped out Cadillac.

Anyway, the trials and tribulations seem to fade away sitting in the lounge. Here's a picture of our package from the front desk containing 4 packages assorted chocolate, a cellular phone pre-paid and programmed with the number of everyone involved, a GPS unit, dozens of condoms, 4 different kinds of hair gel, 2 logs of General Snus, t-shirt, sweatshirt, collagen eye patches. Yeah, I'm gonna have fun.

I'll try to update people here as much as possible. Or you can follow the news updates on

or on

Schmuck (newschoolers) and Shay (freeskier) like to fight over who has better updates. I think Shay's doing a better job, 'cause he put a picture of me online. This link is for a picture of me and my Gnome.

Me and Gnome!

Me and my Lights.

It's been a couple of days and this blog entry has been sitting under appreciated and un-posted, but all has lived up to or beyond my expectations and coping mechanisms. I might never leave. So I'll give thanks now to: Jon and Olivia (our hosts), Peter (my bar-mate and at times driver), the Hotel Tott crew (despite their early closing time), all the ladies of Sweden, Sammy (my athlete and driving force), Damian (my drinking partner), the funky beats still playing at 3:40 am in the downstairs lounge, Red Bull, Dom (my roommate who doesn't care that I go to bed after 4 am every night, Zach (who has been carrying one of my 3 backpacks to most of the shoots), Snus, Riley, Luke, Philou, Tobias, Peter O (my sometimes wingman), my iPod (which is my only real companion and inspiration), and my cameras (because without them I'd be nothing!). Oh and everyone else, 'cause our crew is amazing.

Hope everyone else is feeling as good and lucky as I am right now! And I wish everyone else could be here too!

Eight photographers and our watt second pissing match.

Simon Dumont, a huge jump, and a helicopter (he's the thing sticking out from under the heli. Have I mentioned how cool helicopters are?)

Riley Poor, getting the shot.

Gone Fishin'

Off to Sweden for a few weeks. See y'all from the other side of the pond.

EXPN.com has a photo gallery, by me, from the U.S. Open of Snowboarding, where I was last weekend.

BBC quote and rant.

Before I walked out the door, turned left, and came to this diner where I'm currently sitting and eating breakfast, I heard a quick snippet on BBC radio. I don't know what the actual subject was, but here's the gist of the part I heard: "We're entering an age where anyone can publish anything. And because of that it is intrinsically now our job to edit after the act of publishing." [I don't know why I put that in quotes since its not an exact quote, but whatever I can't html enough to make it stand apart any other way and you get the point now, don't you?]

Which makes me think that we're dismissing an entire industry—a whole profession: editors in all mediums. And now what you and I are faced with is the responsibility to face our growing RSS feeds and the spouting bloggers who we've decided to listen to, and edit each and every step we take through the world. And this task is A) not my primary skill set B) not something I'm getting paid for and C) taking away from the time available for me to do the following things: 1) sleep 2) create my own un-edited content and 3) go do things with my friends and family.

I can't believe I just added to this whole shit show. Although I did get to drink a delicious cup of coffee whilst crafting this rant. And by the way, this is, in one more serendipitous coincidence for my week, the 100th post I've added to my blog. I wanted it to be special and meaningful, but it apparently is just going to be cynical and self-referential.

Back to MY core competency; here's some pics from the other day in Greenpoint and Williamsburg:

Damn Whitney.

Old pics from my Blackberry camera of the Denver Art Museum. Its a beautiful building, even if the layout seemed not to flow naturally. And there were only a couple of moving pieces. On the other hand today I went to the Whitney Museum of American Art to see their Biennial exhibit. The building is kind of familiar by now, and I feel lucky to see the works that had been selected for the Biennial. No time to load pictures from today, places to go, sleep to catch up on.

The Blow

So, I was in Vermont last week for part one of a feature story for Powder Magazine. It rained, it snowed (kind of), it iced over, it blew (in every possible way). I did have approximately 1.7 fun runs on my shredding board and 3 orders of mozzarella sticks. And on the way home I was doing over 90 MPH when I passed a State Trooper, but he pulled over the guy behind me. So I guess I am the luckiest man alive.

I Heard Every Sound.

Nightmares kept waking me and last night I heard every sound in the city so unsettled I realized I would either find sleep with the light of the overcast day or I could go on walk about. So headphones and coffee and camera accompanied me to Coney Island.

Amusing interview to read here with The Gutter Twins, who you might want to listen to if...Well, just listen to it so I don't tell that sordid story in a public form. "All my dreams stroll by unclothed." Awesome.

This is I, Hamlet the Dane.

The story has a couple of flaws, but here is raw emotion and sentiment and performance and a pure way of recording those things. It is worthy watch.
